HOT 93.7 GOT PRESS ON OUR SEX AND THE CITY PREMIERE !!!!
Friday, May 30th, 2008
A HUGE HUGE SHOUT OUT TO THE HARTFORD COURANT WRITER MARYELLEN FILLO.
SHE WAS AT THE SEX AND THE CITY PREMIERE
AND WE GOT A CHANCE TO CHAT…
HERE’S WHAT THE HARTFORD COURANT JAVA ARTICLE ON FRIDAY SAID.
( THANKS AGAIN MARYELLEN!!!)
Hostesses of the “Sex and the City: The Movie” in
Plainville Wednesday were Jeannine Jersey, left,
from WTIC-FM (96.5), and
Nancy Barrow of WZMX-FM (HOT 93.7).
It was all attitude and high heels at AMC Loews
Theatres in Plainville Wednesday,
with moviegoers temporarily channeling the strong-willed, free spirits of Samantha, Carrie, Miranda and
Charlotte at a preview of “Sex and the City.”
The movie, based on the HBO series,
was a hit even before it started as the
400 women who snagged seats for the premiere
(the movie officially opens today) were ready and
willing to find out what happened to the four best friends years after the show ended.
“I am totally like Carrie,” said Christine Hedrick of Naugatuck who, with friend Amber Perdrizet
of Waterbury, dressed for the show in
“Sex and The City” emblazoned tank tops and heels.
“I love shoes and fashion and can’t wait to see the movie.”
Even radio personalities and premiere hosts
Jeannine Jersey of WTIC-FM (96.5), which sponsored the premiere, and Nancy Barrow of WZMX-FM (HOT 93.7) — both are CBS radio stations — struck a pose while putting on their best “Sex and the City” girls attitudes.
Barrow, recovering from knee surgery, didn’t let that stop her, sucking it up and putting on 4-inch-high,
aubergine-colored suede designer shoes for the event!
“Had to wear high heels to this!” she said,
as she did her best to keep the limp to a minimum.
The only thing missing from the event were the
Cosmos and Monolos, or any kind of souvenir.
“It’s funny, when a movie is expected to be a real hit,
they never send any promotional crap for us to give out,” said Tristano Korlou, marketing director with
CBS Radio-Hartford and one of the few men who ventured into the movie. “So this must be good.”
The New York City premiere Tuesday prompted a
standing ovation, and a celebrity guest list with Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and
Kristin Davis, as well as former Glastonbury resident Candace Bushnell, who wrote the book the
television series was based on. But the Connecticut premiere was no slouch.
“I loved it ,” said Jasmine Torres, who, after the show, gathered up three friends who got tired of
applauding at the end and headed to a nearby bar for the requisite pink Cosmos, the preferred drink of the
Carrie and company. “It was like watching the
TV show for two hours. … It was great.”
And speaking of “Sex,” there is an actress over at TheaterWorks who will be attending the movie
tonight … not only because she is a
“Sex and the City” fan, but because she is a
Cynthia Nixon friend.
Erika Rolfsrud, who is starring in
TheaterWorks’ upcoming production of “Rabbit Hole,”
was her understudy when Nixon starred in the
Broadway show in 2006.
“The one thing Cynthia did say was that her
wardrobe and her fashion style was ratcheted
up by about 3,000 percent as a result of
the [TV] show,” said Rolfsrud, who came close,
but never needed to fill in for Nixon during the run.
”She is a lot like Miranda. Hard-working, very smart.
And she had a great sweater from the show, a cream, ribbed, turtleneck with bell-shaped sleeves.
She would wear it to rehearsal and said it was
one of her favorites.
MONDAY MORNING WE TALK TO

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND ..
