Chris Brown says he is grateful to his mother Joyce, for keeping him in line. “She keeps me humble, 100 percent. She’ll be like, “Make sure you clean your room, take out the trash,’ stuff like that. So I still do the same stuff that a normal kid does.” Joyce also serves as one of his managers. Brown adds, “I know when it’s business, but she still keeps it family oriented.”
In a Mother’s Day feature on Essence-dot-com, Kelly Rowland pays tribute to her biological mother, Dorris, and her adoptive mother, Tina Knowles. Kelly says, “God must have thought I was really special to give me two mothers.” Of Garrison she says, “I know it was difficult for you to run me back and forth for rehearsals after I joined Destiny’s Child. I spent a lot of nights at the Knowleses’ house… It was because of your strength and sacrifice that I was able to dream so big.” Of Knowles, Rowland says, “You took extra time to rehearse with me when I got my first lead song at 12. My voice was so small then, and you’d tell me to ’sing up.’ You’ve taught me so much about following my gut, honoring my boundaries, and keeping an eye out for red flags in my relationships. It doesn’t matter if the question is business or personal, I know you’ll always have the answer. I love you both so much. You’re my heroes, my best friends. I can’t thank you enough for grooming me into the woman I am today.”

He says, “We hope to bring attention to state of the foster care system in America and to honor mothers that deserve recognition. It is very easy for this group to get lost in the system and ignored because they are not troubled or dysfunctional — they are normal and super normal. Bobby Valentino and Carl Thomas are rolling their mothers around in style and luxury this Mother’s Day. Bobby V says, “It’s not really a lot of stuff that my mom doesn’t have. There’s nothing that she wants, you know. She wanted a Lexus Coupe convertible, and I bought her that. She’s real happy now. So, you know, she drops the top and rides out.” While Carl Thomas, who has a very close relationship with his mother — tells us, “My mom, I call her my business partner. There’s an order of things…of how things go — there’s pay your tides, pay your taxes, [and] momma. My mom has always been a really, really extremely strong woman. This is a big one sports fans!! the Lousy -ass -father of the year award goes to…..Karl Malone..The former N-B-A star Karl, reportedly got a 13-year-old girl pregnant when he was 20. Although the story never received much media attention, the child turned out to be Demetrius Bell – a top draft pick for the N-F-L’s Buffalo Bills. Bell, who remains estranged from Malone, tells E-S-P-N, “I treat it as if my mother went to the sperm bank. I don’t hate him for [not being in my life]. It made me a better person. I grew up around good people. I never turned to a father figure. I was lucky. I didn’t need one. I’m happy. I don’t need anything else.” Bell is one of three children Malone has fathered out of wedlock, but is the only one the Utah Jazz legend does not have contact with.
